Federal Energy Tax Credit for Qualifying Timeless Windows and Patio Doors
If you're considering purchasing replacement windows, remember that the energy tax incentives included in the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act can help you save money. This legislation provides consumers with tax credits for making their homes more energy efficient. Purchase ENERGY STAR® qualified Timeless windows. You'll save twice—first with the tax credit, then by significantly lowering your home energy usage!
HIGHLIGHTS OF THE AMERICAN RECOVERY & REINVESTMENT ACT
The American Recovery & Reinvestment Act:
- Provides a consumer tax credit up to $1,500 for 30% of the cost of qualified remodeling projects that improve the energy efficiency of an existing home—including replacement windows.
- Applies to any ENERGY STAR qualified windows and doors purchased from January 1, 2009 to May 31, 2009.
- Applies to windows and doors with a U-value of at least 0.30 and solar heat gain coefficient of at least 0.30 purchased from June 1, 2009 to December 31, 2010.
HOW TO GET YOUR TAX CREDIT:
- Purchase qualifying products (see below).
- Keep the ENERGY STAR labels from your new window, or select and print the appropriate Manufacturer’s Certification Statement for your records.
- Claim this tax credit on your 2009 or 2010 federal income taxes.
